Get Moving, It’s Spring!!! Find Your Edge With Pilates!!!

What do I mean by “your edge”?  When I try to slice a tomato with a dull knife it doesn’t even puncture the tomato.  So my  next step is to sharpen that knife so the knife just glides through that yummy tomato.  Hence making it easier to slice. Your body works the same way.  Pilates is that knife sharpener, making you stronger,  more agile and more flexible from the inside out.  Strengthening your edge could mean recovering from an injury, child-birth, trying to get back in shape or just want to up your game!!  Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to just get through the day pain-free?  How nice would it be to start gardening again? Would you like to play hide and seek with your grand children? Carry that toddler with more ease? Make better turns on those black diamond runs?

Pilates strengthens, your abdominal region(the core), from the inside out.  From the inside to the outside is the key element here.   It is very important to engage and work your core so you get the most benefit. Doing hundreds of crunches with the tummy pouched out or with the back arched, doesn’t accomplish very much.  It only leaves you with a sore lower back.  By focusing on your core muscles, in every exercise, the rest of your body starts to build strength more  efficiently. Pilates will give you that stronger, sharper edge in your activities.  Your core supports all the other physical functions in your body. So let’s get moving and come and find your edge with Pilates!

If you have any questions about Pilates please leave a comment,  I want this blog to be an open discussion about Pilates, exercise, nutrition, outdoor activities, osteoporosis, osteopenia, fibromyalgia, herniated disks, neck and shoulder issues, sciatica, arthritis, rotator cuff and sports injuries, pregnancy, cesarean section recovery, and incontinence. Let’s live stronger!!
